Re Social care applications to Ofsted
From 1 April 2024, a health declaration signed by your GP is no longer required for
children’s social care applicants. If you are a social care applicant, e.g. Registering
Manager, Responsible Individual, etc., you must still declare your current health using
the children’s social care health form. However, you do not need to send the form to
your GP as part of your application to be registered as or connected to a children’s
social care provider.
This is a welcome development as the disclosure of any previous health issues, if
significant, is, of course, something that could be addressed via your disclosed work
record, references, etc. No reason has been given for this decision other than ‘to
streamline the process.’ However, EHP Children’s Homes Consultancy has always
believed that the disclosure of a person’s entire health history is an intrusion into their
personal information.
Is your consultant continually ‘horizon scanning’ to keep your potential business up to
date?
